Jana Dickinson is a psychologist with a Masters in Clinical Psychology. Jana has a strong knowledge base and skills in evidence-based psychological therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Throughout her clinical experience she have utilised her strong skill set in the context of individual therapy with children, adolescents and adults presenting with a range of psychological issues including depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. Jana has delivered therapy in the format of group programs including Cool Kids – a program for children and adolescents who experience anxiety including separate sessions for their families, as well as a group Body Image program for adult females. Her other clinical experiences have provided her with experience in assessment and treatment of a range of psychological presentations including children and adolescents with behavioural difficulties and anxiety, adults with depression and anxiety, as well as relationship issues.
Jana also has experience working with people with eating disorders. She has worked on the Eating Disorder Unit in Canberra conducting thorough assessments and group sessions as part of the day program. She has also delivered individual therapy to people with eating issues and co-facilitated body image groups. Jana is knowledgeable about family-based treatments for eating disorder, including the Maudsley Model approach.
Jana adopts a warm and client-centred approach when working with her clients. She aims to consider the person she is working with in the context of their overall lives and has a particular interest in addressing and exploring family and systemic issues that may be impacting on the person.
Jana is currently away on maternity leave.
